WORK ON ARMY HEADQUARTERS
Completion By May
Reconstruction of the Southern Military District Headquarters building, which was badly damaged by fire last year, has now reached the stage where it is hoped that the contractors providing the fire prevention equipment will start their work on February 1. Major E. W. Boyle said yesterday that at present the main, objective was to replace the roof. Once this is done the interior work can begin. He said that a sprinkler system, fire doors, and smoke-control equipment would be installed. If satisfactory progress is made it is expected that the buildings will be ready for use within six months. All of the work is being done by the Southern Military District construction squadron.
