RESEARCH APPEAL
Memberships Needed
Partial returns from four of the 16 zones into which the city was divided for the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation's appeal gave a total inflow to yesterday of £Bl4, bringing the total so far to £4393 3s, the secretary of the appeal (Mr C. L. Bacon) said yesterday. The zone contributions included 120 annual memberships—a proportion which was "very disappointing,” Mr Bacon thought. “We need the assurance of continuity in our finances, which only memberships can give,” he explained. “We want to be sure we can support worthy projects over the years, and not for next year only.” A good deal of collection work still remained to be done, and householders need not be perturbed if their envelopes had not yet been taken up. If it appeared that a house had in fact been missed, however, the foundation’s box number appeared on the envelope and the contribution should be sent to that address.
