MEAT BOARD WORK
More Power Urged
(N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON, Nov. 27. An urgent telegram will be sent to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) by the Wairarapa meat and wool section of Federated Farmers asking for the 1959 amendment to the -.Meat Export Control Act to be 1 reinstated. “We must give more power to the Meat Board." said Mr L. T Daniell, mover of the resolution. ’ “In the national interest the clause that Mr Nash deliberately erased two years ago should be reinstated. It gives the Meat Export Development Company <N.Z.) power to compete and develop in the British market. “Let us give John Ormond full power and all our support. Until hi* arms are unleashed we must become more depressed weekly.” He said the mere threat of the Meat Board setting up a marketing organisation in Britain would have an effect on the market. Mr L. Sherriff. deputychairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, addressed the special meeting of the section. He supported the move.
