Sir,—l agree with “Avoid Waste” in saying that “the raising of salaries will not ensure a suitable type coming forward.” This, however, is a half-truth, and, as such, is dangerous, “insure” being the operative word. Would not a closer approximation to the truth be, •■Although the raising of salaries may not ensure a suitable type coming forward, it may increase the number and variety of applicants from which a selection of suitable types can be made’” Society is served by the type of teacher that it deserves—Yours, etc.,
