WOMENS CRICKET O. Williams, Of Technical, Scores First Century
The highest score in the Canterbury Women’s Cricket Association matches on Saturday went to O. Williams * (Technics!) who scored her > first century at the expense i of the Beckenham bowlers. A. Giles (Teachers’ CoiI lege) had an excellent double, top scoring with 87, ! and taking six Western ; wickets for 19 runs, while the consistent young A- Col- » Ville reached double figures ; with a patient 35 not out fit Albans I v. St Albans m A hard-hitting « by C. Randan put St Albans I in a strong position, but the side ■ wee all out for 117. P. Blackler was the most successful t bowler for St. Albans XU. She i took tix wickets for 35 runs. 1 St Albans HI were 130 for ! four at stumps, thereby gain- ; Ing a win on the first innings. P. Bladder, with an innings of 08, completed a fine double. She was ably assisted by the young A. Colville. ! Teachers’ College v. Western i Teachers’ College made its > highest score of the season ; in making 106 against West- , era. AH rounder A. Giles batted extremely well to score 51. M. Creswell contri- , buted a valuable 22.
R. Adair took the bowling honours for Western with five wickets for 14. Western after making a sound start, was soon in trouble against the bowling of Giles, and were all out for 77. Batting again. Teachers' College were 38 for three at stumps. College won on the first innings.
Mai Moa v. St. Albans H Batting first, Mai Moa declared with four wickets down for 178, A. Rouse made 87 not out in excellent fashion, and was supported by an innings of 42 by B. Harris, and 24 by L. Motz. St Albans
replied with • total of 77. J. Dickinson making 23 not out, ■nd A. Malins 26. L. Motz bowled well for Mai Moa in taking four for 17. Mai Moa won on the first innings. Technical s. Beckenham O. Williams hit the ball hard and often in her innings of 101 against Beckenham, and when she retired, her team was well on the way to making a good score. J. Goddard with 43 to her credit, also batted well The only Beckenham players to reach double figures were E. Dicksoil who played her beet innings of the season to reach 75 not out, and C. Farmer. At stumps Beckenham were 128 for five, the game being drawn.
