Greendale Batsmen Struggle ~A , S P® U of bowling, which included a hat-trick, “by R. Morris of Kirwee United, was the outstanding feature in the Malvern cricket competitions on Saturday. Morris, in the match against Greendale, clean bowled 10 of his 12 victims. He took seven for 27 in the first innings, and five for 12 in the second. Greendale could only manage 58 runs in the first innings, and were soon in trouble in the second, being seven for 27 at stumps. G. Wright 74, D. Stone 47, and B. Bloor 33 not out, put Kirwee United in a strong position from the outset.

The Sheffield bowlers could not contain Darfleld, and 245 runs were added in 150 minutes. R. Gunne scored a fine 96; A. Wright was the most successful bowler in taking three for 53. Sheffield’s opening batsmen, I. Wright and L. Innes, put on 104 for the first wicket, and 210 were scored in 213 minutes. At stumps, Sheffield still had five wickets in hand.

South Malvern B fared reasonably well In Its first match of the competition against its own A side. The A’s made 228 before declaring with five wickets down. A. Tilson batted well tor his 88, and he was well supported by innings of 50 by R March, and 42 by A. Karst. The B's in reply made 148: left-hander G. Nimmo taking five wicket* for 14. Kirwee United 208 for seven declared (G. Wright 74. D. Stone <7, B. Bloor 33 not out; C. Adams three for 39. J. Adams two for 81) beat Greendale 58

(C. Adams 25; R. Morri* seven for 27, D. Stone three for 8) and following on seven for 27 (R. Morris five for 12, D. Stone two for 14). Darfleld 246 for six declared (R. Farrant 20. R. Gunn 96, J. Gunn 34, J. Hotop 45. D. McLeod 28, E. Frew 17 not out; A. Wright three for 53) drew with Sheffield 210 for flve (I. Wright 69, L. Innes 52. D. Deans 40, C. Croy 17 not out; M. Frew five for 76). South Malvern A 228 for five declared (R. Tilson 88, A. Karst 48, R. Hoburn 35, D. Craib 21, R. Marsh 50; M. Milne four for 58) beat South Malvern B 148 (L. Clueas 38, B. Charles 27. B. Carrell 23, N. Oliver 1«; G. Nimmo five for 14, R. Stewart two for 12).
