PICTON WHARF
(NJS. Preu Association) BLENHEIM, Nov. 26. The newiy-formed Marlborough Harbour Board's first official function, the opening of the 700 ft extension to the main wharf at Picton, and the naming of the wharf itself as the Waitohi Wharf, took place at Picton yesterday. In port for the occasion were the overseas freighter, Port Auckland, which is loading frozen mutton, and the frigate, H.M.A.S. Yarra. The Yarra left for the Hauraid gulf soon after the function ,o join in combined manoeuvres being held there. The naming ceremony was performed by the Minister of Marine (Mr Gerard), and other official guests included the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) and the chief of the New Zeeland Naval Staff.
