YOUNG MINER KILLED
J Car Leaves Road , 1 On Bend < i i A 21-year-old miner was > killed instantly when his car left the Ashburton Forks ] road on a bend about 15 j miles west of Ashburton, and struck a power pole, early on ■ Saturday morning. He was: Harris Bruce Beckley, single, , of Mount Somers. He was the son of Mr and Mrs R. R. Beckley, of 1 Mount Somers. The time of the accident is not known but it is believed to have been early in the morning. A passing motorist saw the car, in > which Beckley was the only occupant, and the police were called about 6 a.m. The car was extensively damaged.
