Swimming PROPOSED TOUR
Invitation Not Received (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) SYDNEY, Nov. 23. The mystery of what has happened to the official invitation from the New Zealand Swimming Association to Australian swimming officials asking' for a visit by the world chamoion swimmer, Miss Dawn Fraser, grew deeper today. Miss Fraser and her coach Mr Harry Gallagher, said in Adelaide that they thought the Australian Swimming Union had the invitation, but. in Sydney, the union’s secretary. Mr Berge Phillips, said he had not received anything official from New Zealand. "Until such time as I receive it. I can do nothing about it,” he added. “When I get an invitation from New Zealand the matter will be dealt with immediately.” In a radio-telephone conversation from New Zealand this afternoon, the secretary of the New Zealand Swim ming Association, Mis' Doreen Brown, said she hadairmailed the invitation to M Berge Phillips on Novembe--15. Meanwhile, with permissior from the Swimming Associa tion in her home state, Soul! Australia, to make the trip Miss Fraser is wondering whether the A.S.U. ban o> her swimming overseas i' still in force. She said toda' that she had made n arrangements to leave foNew Zealand next Wednes day.
