SIREN SOUNDED IN PARCEL
Batteries Left In Toy Engine (NZ. Press Association) WANGANUI, Nov. 23 Persons who post batterydriven toys should remove one or both of the batteries before packing the toys. One, posted at Invercargill and received in Wanganui this week apparently caused some apprehension and arrived in Wanganui inscribed on the outside: “Opened when battery operated—Second Officer. T.E.V. Maori.” In this instance a Japan-ese-made fire engine was posted with the batteries inside and the control switch tn the ‘"stop” position.” The end of the switch protruded. As the parcel rattled around it turned the switch Away went the engine inside the box. light Sashing and siren going.
