STAND FIRE AT ADDINGTON
Board Chairman To Make Statement Other than a request by one member of the board there had been no move in Christchurch for an inquiry into the fire in the grandstand at the Addington trotting course, said Mr W. R. Campbell, chairman of the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board, last evening. It was open to the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Gotz) to call for an inquiry if he wished, he said, commenting on the question asked in Parliament by Mr M. A. Connelly, M.P. for Riccarton. The next meeting of the board would be on December 12. Interested parties were waiting until after the meeting before giving further assistance, he said. After the meeting he would make a statement covering the fire and results of inquiries by those interested.
