WEST COAST LAND DEVELOPMENT.—Drainage is a most important aspect of land development on the West Coast. This is Raft creek, on the Lands and Survey Department’s Raft creek farm settlement eight miles south-east of Hokitika. The creek has been straightened and deepened as part of the drainage operations on the 1138-acre property, which will eventually be broken up into a series of dairy farms.
