NEW SCOUT DEN AT AVONSIDE
Official Opening On Sunday
The Avonside Scout Group’s new> den will be officially opened on Sunday afternoon by the district commissioner iMr A. H. Scott). Queen Scout parchments will be presented to members of the senior troop during the function. Formerly an Air Force hut at Birdling's Flat, the hut was moved to the present site on Christchurch Drainage Board property in Retreat road, about 12 months ago. Since then the group committee has raised money for additions and interior decorating. A kitchen, committee room and a storage room for the troop’s gear have been added and the den has been lined with knotted pine and varnished. Present at the opening will be the area commander (Mr C W Hamann), the member of Parliament for Christchurch Central (Mr R. M. Macfarlane), and members of the Christchurch City Council and the Drainage Board.
