An offer of a chocolate frog for every live toad resulted in the unearthing of 12.668 toade by children of Lae, New Guinea, recently A Melbourne confectionery firm organised the “toad drive” on the barter basis when it was found the toads were voracious eaters of army worms which were destroying vegetable gardens in Wau. Two hundred and sixty chocolate frogs were earned ty one Lae youngster who delivered his catch in a chaff bag. The toads were sold to growers in Wau at £1 for 50. The proceeds went to the Australian national heart disease campaign.
