MEN’S SENIOR RESERVE
23 Teams Begin Competition The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s men’s senior reserve competition began on Saturday morning at Wilding Park with a record number of teams—l2 in the first section and 11 in the second section, one having a bye in the second section. Last season the competition was won by North Linwood II and St. Albans was runner-up. North Linwood has three teams entered this season: North Linwood I won its match in section 1 and North Linwood II beat North Linwood HI by default in section 11. St. Albans won in section I. Results:— SENIOR RESERVE Section I Edgeware beat Beckenham I by 8 seis to 6; Cashmere I beat Elmwood by 6 matches to 0: North Linwood I beat Fendalton I by 4 matches to 2; Shirley beat University by 5 matches to 1; Barrington beat Opawa by 3 matches to 1; St. Albans beat South Brighton by 4 matches to 2. Section II North Linwood II beat North Linwood 111 by default: Beckenham II beat Elmwood II by 10 games to 62; Linwood Avenue beat Edgeware H by 5 matches to 1; Fendalton II beat South Christchurch by 4 matches to 1; United beat Cashmere II by default. Avonside a bye. FIRST GRADE Section I Cashmere beat University by 16 snatches to 0; Woolston beat South Christchurch by 93 games to 90; FendaMon beat Waimalri by 9 matches to 7; Elmwood beat Avonside I by 9 matches to 7. Section II Spreydon beat North Linwood by 10 matches to 6; Barrington beat Beckenham by 13 matches to 3; Rlccarton Domain beat Shirley by 9 matches to 7; Opawa beat Avonside II by 14 matches to 2. SECOND GRADE Section II North Linwood beat South Brighton by 11 matches to 5: Redcliffs beat Fendalton by 13 matches to 1; Public Hospital beat Shirley II by 9 matches to 3; New Brighton beat St. Martins by 12 matches to 4.
