Plan To Form N.Z. Council The Design Association of New Zealand had. amongst its aims, the establishment of a New Zealand Council of Industrial Design, said the president of the association (Mr P. Pascoe’ tn a statement issued yesterday Mr Pascoe was commenting on the interview’ with Mr J. B. Upton, a British businessman, printed in “The Press" on Saturday. Mr Upton said the Council of Industrial Design in Britain had proved itself a worth-while organisation. New Zealand could well do wdth such an organisation. These comments were most welcome, said Mr Pascoe. The association aimed to bring industry and designers together so that good design could be developed This would achieve both better design and increased sales The association had contacts in other centres and aimed to spread to these places. It was also planning an exhibition of “well designed New Zealand made" goods to be held in Christchurch in May next year.
