AUCKLAND, November 12. Hautapu had to survive an inquiry lasting more than an hour before he was confirmed the winner of the Green Lane Handicap, the first leg of the double on the opening night of the Franklin Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday. An objection lodged by Mr A. Lucas, the owner of the second horse, Flying Fiver, was dismissed. The second leg of the double, the Pokeno Handicap, was won by Molly’s Report. The HautapuMolly’s Report combination paid a double dividend of £l4B 3s for £l. The weather was showery and the track became very sticky. There was an attendance of 11,209, compared with 14.881 last year. On-course, the totalisator handled £90,212 10s, including £11,016 in doubles, compared with £111,719 5s last year.
