PASSING OF SECRETS
U.S. Diplomat Convicted (HZ/A.-Mtn- Copyright) WASHINGTON, Oct. 38 Irvin Scarbeck. a format American diplomat, was con* victed yesterday of pasting secrets to Polish agents. Searbeck, aged 41, eras found guilty on three of the four counts in the indictment. The Jury acquitted him of a charge of unlawfully removing a secret dispatch from the United States Unbassy in Warsaw. Federal Judge Leonard Walsh said Scarbeck would be held in custody pending a pre-sentence report. He did not set a date for sentencing. Scarbeck showed no emotion as he heard the verdict, which came after a trial lasting three week Scarbeck, former Second Secretary of the United States Embassy in Warsaw. confessed to having given secrets to the Polish Security Police to protect his 22-year-old mistress, Urszula Discher.
