Marching FIRST MEETING OF SEASON
Good Displays At Halswell The first marching meeting of the season was held at the Halswell Domain on Saturday by the Midland association. Thirty-two teams took part in three sections, senior, junior and midget. The winners and runners-up will now go into the open grade for future meetings and the others will compete in the novice grades. Conditions were perfect and the standard of marching was high. Results were:— Senior Champion, Phillips HI. Z.; runner-up, Downings Red Robins. Display, Downings Red Robins; runner-up, Phillips HI. Z. Champion leader Downings Red Robins; runnerup. Phillips HI. Royal Kilties: runner-up Motoways. Aggregate, Royal Kilties Costume, Cains. Midget Champion, Blue Star Taxis: runner-up, Gordonettes. Display, Blue Star Taxis; nmnerup, Gordonettes. Champion leader. Gordonettes; runner-up. Blue Star Taxis. Aggregate. Blue Star Taxis. Costume. Gordonettes. Golf Links Fire.— A grass fire on the Christchurch Golf Club links in Golf Links road, Shirley, was extinguished by a unit from the St. Albang station at 10.14 a.m. yesterday.
