HOME LEAGUES’ CONFERENCE

100 Salvation Army Women To Attend

One hundred leaders of the Salvation Army women’s organisations, the Home Leagues, from all parts of New Zealand, will confer at Akatarawa tomorrow.

During sessions until November 2, they will survey many aspects of their work and formulate plans for extension.

This leadership course is the first to be held for the Home Leagues of New Zealand. Links with the International Home League are maintained through Mrs Commissioner Gilliard, acting as New Zealand president.

Sleeping benches for girls in the Salvation Army women’s and children’s home in Madras street to provide resting places off the floor, have recently been provided by the Sydenham Home League. Major R. Mehrtens, a New Zealand Salvationist, is the home matron.
