Laundering Process
IBy ZALIA THOMAS) LONDON, October 23
During the early months of a baby’s life, the average mother has the formidable task of boiling about 3500 napkins. Until recently that was the only sure way of preventing the painful bum called “nappy rash.” Now, after three years of laboratory and field work a British firm has produced a solution abolishing the need to boil napkins. All the mother need do is put a des-sert-spoonful of compound in a gallon of hand-warm water and simply drop the soiled napkins into this through the day. They are deodorised, stains removed, whifened and completely freed from bacteria.
A pinless napkin has just reached London from Italy. Made of super-soft absorbent woven cotton it goes on like a pair of pants and ties easily around the waist. The cost in London is £ 1 6s 3d for six.
