WOMAN’S HAND INJURED
Damages Of £ll,OOO (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE; October 12. A Supreme Court jury has awarded £11,002 damages to a mother of five who lost tour fingers in a factory accident. The woman is Mins Helen Nancy Whimpey, aged 34, ol Melbourne. Mrs Whimpey gave evidence to Court that the fingers on her left hand were mutilated by a punch while she was operating a 40-tor press on March 16 last year She sued her former employer, Mecelec Pty, Ltd, ol Notting HUI. The company admitted liability. Mrs Whimpey said atM could no longer drive a cai and had not worked atari the accident. She had toe confidence, suffered “iron nerves," and wore a gtov< because of the appeeraac at her injured hand. The added burden on th< right hand had aggravated aj arthritic condition in th right arm and shoulder, ab said.
