COMMENDATION FOR CONSTABLE
Part In Discovering Hit-And-Run Driver
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 12. Constable Bruce MacKenzie, aged 31, of the Auckland police, has been officially commended by the Police Commissioner (Mr C. L. Spencer) for his part in finding the hit-and-run driver who killed an Otahuhu cyclist. Reginald John Farrant, on June 6. The citation, to appear in the Police Gazette, commends Constable MacKenzie for the “zeal and efficiency which he displayed in the conduct of inquiries, which culminated in the apprehension of the driver of a motor vehicle, who failed to stop after colliding with, and fatally injuring, a cyclist.” The commissioner has granted Cbnstable MacKenzie five days’ special leave.
