Course For N.A.C. Staff
A two-day course on creative problem - solving ended at Harewood yesterday for 15 senior engineering executives employed by the National Airways Corporation. The course is believed to have been the first of its kind held in the Dominion The basis of the course was reliance on the stimulation of one’s imagination in finding solutions to problems. A management consultant Mr D. McClure, was in charge of the course, which was based on work carried out at the University of Buffalo New York. Research into the technique of problem-solving, although begun before the last war, has largely been carried out by the university since 1953 It is now widely used throughout the United States The 15 engineering executives were from N.A.C.’J head office at Wellington, and from Harewood. The course was held tn the corporation’s technical training school at the airport It is not enough to do goodone must do it in the right way.—John Morley.
