WOMEN’S ROLE WITH CHURCH
Vital Change Seen
(NX. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct 12. Women’s place in the work of the Church was undergoing a vital change, the retiring secretary of the Fellowship of Congregational Women (Mrs J. Roll) told the assembly of the Congregational Union of New Zealand today. The time was fast approaching, she said, when women’s groups, such as fellowships, would disappear and the Church would think in terms of men and women working togetherThis situation was because more women went to work. This made it impossible for them to attend daytime church meetings. Dunedin was the only district with increased attendances at meetings. The problem was not confined to New Zealand, she said. One American church had combined Its men’s and women's groups into commissions to engage in new ac- ' tivities of joint endeavour. In relinquishing the secre- ' taryship Mrs Roil has become the new president of the fellowship.
