REVOLT FAILS

Colombian Disorder (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BOGOTA (Colombia), Oct. 12. The Colombian Government last night decreed a state of siege throughout the country, only hours after it had crushed an attempted Right-wing revolt by a company of troops. President Camargo made the announcement in a nation-wide radio broadcast, the British United Press said. The decision to impose a state of siege—or martial law—was taken during a long Cabinet meeting. It stemmed from the fact that there is a growing wave of disorder throughout the country, including attempts at open rebellion, said President Camargo. He promised that he would not use the special powers given to him under the decree for any purpose other than restoring order to the nation.
