Liner's Race To Save Girl’s Life
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) HONOLULU. October 5. The British User Arcadia's race to Honolulu to save the life of a 10-year-old Australian girl ended in tragedy. The girl, identified by a spokesman for the ship’s agents as Christina Poni. died on Tuesday. The girl and her parents. Mr and Mrs C. Poni, are believed to have boarded the liner in Sydney and were en route to Hawaii to make their home, news agencies reported. The Arcadia reported on Tuesday night that she was steaming full speed for Honolulu in the hope of saving the girl’s life. She had suffered a cardiac failure during a shipboard operation for appendicitis. The Arcadia, which left Suva on September 30. is due its Honolulu later
