Spring Flower Shows
Miss M. Watling judged the decorative section and Mr J Watling the specimen blooms at the Belfast Garden Club's recent spring flower show Mr E. Rogers showed colour slides of prize-winning gardens. Mrs I. Huntington presided. The sum of £lO was raised for the Canterbury Horticultural Society’s building fund Section winners were: decorative, Mrs R. Brown; over 14, Jennifer Brown; under 14, Gillian McFadden and Penny Brown (equal) 1; most points in daffodil classes. Mr N. Ashby. Redcliffs-Sumner Club The Redcliffs-Sumner, Garden Club held a spring flower show at the Sumner Town Hall recently. A record number of entries was received and a high standard of decorative work and cut flowers was shown. The judges were Mesdames T. McCombs, R. Elcock, and Mr J. Watling. Top awards were: premier award and Whitfield Cup (for most points), Mrs L. E Smith; decorative section. Mrs A. B. Cullens; cut flowers, Mrs T. A. Searell; cookery, Mrs E. Haste; vegetables, Mrs G. Gulliford.
