HANGING IN BRITAIN
Church Urges Abolition (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, October 5. The Lower House of the Convocation of Canterbury, one of two “parliaments” of the Church of England, today passed a resolution urging the abolition of capital punishment in Britain. The death penalty at present is imposed for certain categories of murder, and for treason. The Rev. F. P. Coleman, who moved the resolution, said that hanging should at least be completely suspended for a period of five years.
