Many Offers To Perforin Everyone wants to appear on Channel 3’s new “live” show—magicians, judo experts. soft-shoe men. song and dance teams, sword swallowers, yoga enthusiasts, child nrodigies and a pianoaccordion band. Channel 3 has not yet advertised for people to audition for the new show, but all these people and many others have offered their services. “Time Out For Talent" will be the name of the new programme, due to start on Wednesday, October 25, at about 8 p.m. "Our aim is to present to the people of Christchurch some of the best entertainers we have in Christchurch.” said the producer-director, Mr P. Wilbraham. “It will be purely entertainment. This will not be a talent quest and there will be no prizes. People on the show will receive appearance fees only. Graeme Edwin will compere the show and a musical trio will back the musical items. There will be a studio audience, too,”

Mr Wilbraham Mid everyone selected to appear on the programme would be auditioned beforehand. The first auditions would be held on Monday. Each programme of "rime Out For Talent” would last about 15 minutes. There would be nine shows altogether, ending with a special Christmas programme.

Tomorrow at 812 p.m. Channel 3 will present a new production, "The Critics.’’ a panel discussion of John Steinbeck's latest novel, “The Winter of Our Discontent” and a film “Mr Topaze.” starring Peter Sellers, recently shown in Christchurch.

Members of the panel are Dr. J. G. A. Pocock, a senior lecturer in history at the University of Canterbury. Mr B. Smyth, of the adult education department, and Mrs A. Cotterill, who is well known for -her work iu repertory productions. The producer (Mr W R Taylor) said last evening that the 15-minute programme wculd not be shown regularly but only when there was a controversial topic when a panel would be selected to discuss it.
