ORDER BOOK SYSTEM
Extension To Age Benefits I N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 6. The Minister of Social Security (Mr Shelton) announced today that the order book system of payment, used for family benefits and superannuation benefits will be extended to age. widows’, invalids’, orphans’ and miners’ benefits With the exception of orphans’ and miners’ benefits the change-over to the new system wil] be made progressively over 12 months from January next. To avoid interruptions tn payments benefits would be brought on to order books as they come up for annual renewal during the year. Mr Shelton said. But al] orphans’ benefits would be transferred to order books in January. 1962, and all miners’ benefits in April. 1962. Under the order book system. beneficiaries are issued with a book containing 13 orders which provide payment for a period of 52 weeks at four-weekly intervals and these may be negotiated at any money order office or Social Security paying office Provision is also made under the order system for an agent to collect on behalf of the beneficiary Under the present system, payment can only be made at a particular nominated office.
