CHURCHMAN TO VISIT CITY
Rev. Dr. Leslie Cooke The Rev. Dr. Leslie Cooke, recognised as a fine Protestant preacher, church administrator and writer, will arrive in Christchurch today on his way to attend the third assembly of the World Council of Churches in New Delhi. Dr. Cooke is the associate general secretary of the council.
He will preach in Christchurch Cathedral and St Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday, and will also address a public rally at the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church.
On Monday Dr. Cooke will give a lunch-hour address in Christchurch Cathedral.
He will meet privately with the national executive of the National Council of Churches and with other church groups. The genera! secretary of the Congregational Union of England and Wales for seven years, Dr. Cooke was later elected to his present post. In 1955 he became director of the council's division of inter-church aid.
