Practice Match In Jeopardy fN.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 6 The New Zealand cricket team arrived in Sydney tonight eager for a fuU-scale practice tomorrow. But there was disappointing news for the enthusiastic New Zealanders. Heavy rain has drenched the King’s School wicket gt Parramatta and the tourists’ scheduled all-day fixture is in doubt. The King’s authorities, however, covered two practice pitches in a bid to ensure the New Zealanders could at least complete a nets practice. The New Zealand manager, Mr 3. G. Leggat, explained that the New Zealanders had had no opportunity for outdoor cricket before their departure. The tourists had a perfect flight from Christchurch to Sydney. The secretary of the New South Wales Cricket Association (Mr A. Barnes) and New Zealand’s representative in Australia (Mr J. Norton) were at the Sydney air terminal to meet the team. So was K. W. Hough, the burly Sydney cricketer ’• and soccer player who played for New Zealand in test cricket New Zealand's much-tra-velled captain, J. R. Reid, was enthusiastic about his team's prospects. He said he expected the New Zealanders to lift their country’s status in world cricket.
