TROTTING King Hal Picked To Win At Forbury Park
King Hal, a member of G S. Donald’s successful Belfast team, should gain his first win for the season in the Express Handicap, to be run over 12 furlongs on the opening night of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s spring meeting today. King Hal has finished second at his last two starts and is overdue for a win. Mighty Mina beat him narrowly at the end of two miles at New Brighton and at his most recent start he was a sound second to Highland Custom over 12 furlongs. He looks well placed on the front in this fairly weak field and it is difficult to see him beaten.
Flying Note was rated little inferior to King Hal as a three-year-old last season. He has not raced since June 5 at Ashburton and may lack the hard condition of King Hal. Flying Note has raced well when fresh in the past and if he has had sufficient work, should be hard tn beat.
Bonnie Lustre was a fair sixth over 12 furtongs at New Brighton at her most recent start The First Lord mare looks in great order at present and it will not surprise if she makes a bold
showing. Wexford Chief has been found wanting at the end of two miles, but the shorter distance in this race should suit him.
Mystic Star, Pacemaker, Zenith and Aquaplane are others in good order at present and may race prominently, but it is hard to see them being much of a threat to King Hal. The double will be run on the Metropolitan and Members’ Handicaps. Ceremonial and Medoro Star forming a likely combination. Fine, but cool weather is forecast for tonight. The Forbury Park track is firm and fast. SPRING HANDICAP, of £250; 3min 17sec class; one mile and three furlongs.—Arriaga (7). Auto Try ax (9).
