Presbyterians’ Opposition “In the name of the Presbyterian Church of NeW Zealand we strongly oppose the applications for liquor licences to airport restaurants.” says a telegram sent to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) by the convener of the Presbyterian General Assembly committee on liquor problems and alcoholism (the Rev. The telegram continues: — “Such licences would have grave and far-reaching results, They are contrary to the spirit and interest of the 6 p.m. hotel closing legislation, which is still the law of the land and the will qf ■the people. And they nullify the recommendations on this matter delivered by -the Select Committee on Licensing Law.”
