NEW TRACK ON COURSE
Yaldhurst Rd. Frontage
The committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club has agreed to provide a track along the Riccarton racecourse’s Yaldhurst road frontage from Carmen road to Racecourse road. The club was asked to take this step in a petition signed by approximately 70 persons, including trainers, who pointed to the dangers facing horsemen and horses on Yaldhurst road when going to and from the racecourse. The committee of the club agreed to have a track provided subject to the approval of the trustees of the racecourse and the consent of the lessee of toe land. ’ Final details have not been drawn up yet, but as requested there will probably be several points of access to the proposed track to enable trainers to get off Yaldhurst road as quickly as possible.
