GEOTHERMAL BORES
State Rentals Fixed -The Prost- Special Service WELLINGTON, October 3 The Government will be • able to fix a rental for the use of geothermal energy , after the publication test week of geothermal energy regulations. The rent may be up to half the value of the , benefits derived from using the steam or water. The regulations lay down conditions for granting licences to use geothermal energy under the Geothermal Energy Act, 1953. Licences are not necessa® I]J for test wells or for wells f« » domestic supply, provided the latter are no more than 200 feet deep. Rentals will not be charged for the use of these bores. Also specified are safety precautions to be token when boring for and using steam or hot water and the procedure for taking land for industries of national importance which will use pecthermal energy.
