Service Pensions
Sir,—The Minister of Pensions states 'that we are not governed by the economic circumstances or cost of Irving. Like his predecessors, he states that our pension is based on the extent of disabilities. Mine, like many others, is 100 per cent. How can he say it is not based on economics or cost at living? It is time he realised that money peid out for a livelihood must cotne from the economy of the country. I have applied for an economic pension more than once, but officers of the Pensions Department have been too well schooled from higher, up to take any notice of us, the ones who fought on the blood-soaked hills of Gai-, lipoii and the mud of Flanders while others stayed at home. He like many, must class a soldier very low grade when We only get £4 10s a week.—Yours, etc, 1914-18. (Jctober 2, 1961.
