Champions May Tour
Two ot the world’s finest horsemen may ride in New Zealand next year. They are Raimondo d’lnzeo. of Italy, holder of the world championship. and Laurie Morgan, of Australia, captain of the winning three-day event team at the Rome Olympic* and an individual gold medallist.
The Equertrian Federation of Australia may accept an invitation from the New Zealand Horse Society to send a team of show jumpers to the Dominion next February and it is hoped Mr Morgan will accompany the team. If he does. New Zeeland may be treated to exhibitions of horsemanship better than anything yet seen in the Dominion. Captain d’lnzeo ha* already accepted an invitation.
Passages for five rider* and : seven horses to arrive in : Wellington on January 30 have been booked by the federation. Members of the federation who are amateur rider* and wish to be considered for selection have been asked to submit application* so a provisional selection can be made before the Australian show jumping championship, to be held in November at Deniliquin, where the final selection will be made. A circuit of shows has been arranged by the New Zealand society, starting with the Horse of the Year Show, to be held at Christchurch on February & B and 10. Sub•eqwat shows will be held at Uhsterton. Hastings, Gisbsrne Tsihape and Palmerstou North.
