Biannual Meeting Items
The Christchurch Group of the Canterbury Federation of ; Country Women’s Institutes held its biannual meeting re- 1 cently. Mrs A. Mason presided and welcomed the Canterbury Federation presi- ■ dent (Mrs L. M. Kellaway), a Dominion councillor (Mrs C. D. Newton), members of the Federation executive, a voluntary organiser (Mrs E. Anderson), and Mre Lees, a - visitor from Bluff. The results of the set competition, “Grandmother's Birthday,” judged by Miss K. McDonald, were: Mairehau I. South Brighton X North Beach 3. Knee caps from this competition will be given to the Nurse Maude Home. Mrs O. Keen (centre) and Mrs L. Walker (Mairehau) won the large and small bloom competition respectively. A short address was given by Mrs Newton on the recent coi’Acil meeting at Wanganui. and Mrs R. Tatom gave a talk on television in America The North Beach C.W.I. was die host institute and gave a programme comprising vocal items, pianoforte solos, monologues and a humorous sketch. Tentative arrangements were discussed for a combined group picnic early next year, and arrangements completed for the current competition. The annual meeting of the group was Arranged for May 24. Y.W.CA. Meeting.—The following directon were elected at the annual meeting of ths YWCA board ofdirectoro in Christchurch: president. Mrs A. N. McLeod: directorts. Mesdames W. D. Bunt, D. P. Caid. P. A Hickling, C W. Cochrane. F. W. Ganz, H. R. Hicks, B E McKenzie, R W. WornalL F. N. Wylde, Miss M. E. Ellyett; director re-elected, Miss F Korrell. The retirement of the following directors was announced: Mra O. Mitehell, Mrs C. K. Anderson, Miss A & Fraser, Mrs A K. Thompson. The resignation eg Un J, Moss was accepted.
