Driver Thrown From Sulky (From Ow Own Raporter) wiswowr. Oct. 2. There wag a: wasational finish to the Cantata’Trotting day when the driver the winner, Anehera, was tipped out erf his sulky a , yard after passing the post and the second horse, Carlisle, went down on his knees when challenging and almost slid over the line. W. S. Cummings held on to Anahera’s reins when a tyre burst and got the hone clear of the others. M. Purdon, the driver of Carlisle, did well to get hte horse balanced when g fsH seemed inevitable. The two horses were fighting out a thrilling finish and Anghera won by a nose. Anahera led from start to finish with Carlisle, Nelst® ; Ahoy, Totara King. Kowa ; Mam and Gold Lady the i closest of the others. In the run home Anahera • just held on. with Nelson , Ahoy a fair third ahead of ) Lady Night, Kowa Mani and > Gold Lady. The others fin- ‘ ished at intervals. Lady Night recorded a , very fast time in winning the ; second trot, the Durban . Chief Handicap, from Nelson ; Ahoy and Thrift, pacing the t mile and a quarter in 2nun i 45 2-ssec. ; The Methven four-year-old 1 ran three fine races at the meeting for two wins and a fourth placing. : The local pacer. Thrift, made a fast pace in this . event and did well to hold • on for third.
