CHAIRMAN ELECTED

(IY-Z. Press Aera.—Cbpvrioto) LONDON, October 3. The Nigerian Minister for Transport and Aviation, and vice-chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Mr Raymond A Njoku) has been unanimously elected chairman for the forthcoming year. He will preside over next year’s conference, to be held at Lagos, The present chairman (Sir Roland Robinson! at yesterday’s session ot the association* conference, also announced that the council had unanimously elected Dato Ong Yoke Lin, the Malayan Minister of Health and Social Welfare,- as the new vicechairman. Mr R. M. Macfarlane, of New Zealand, told delegates Of the part played by the Maori race in New Zealand and said all New Zealanders iwere proud of them. A tribute to New Zealand came from Amoa Tausilla ot Western Samoa. He said New Zealand had played a big part in helping Western Samoa to its independence, which would come next January.
