Two Missing Malayans

(N XJPA -Reuter—Copyrtcht) DARWIN, October 2.

A senior officer of the Immigration Department, Mr H. G. Brooks, has flown to Darwin to supervise the deportation of two Malayans. Mr Brooks had discussions during the week-end with the Northern ' Territory Administrator (Mr R. B. Nott), the Crown Law Officer (Mr R. J. Withnall) and local immigration officials. But the two men who are to be deported, Duris bin Saris and Zainal bin Hashim, are stiH in hiding. A wide police search for them is now going on. Boats in Darwin harbour, a number of houses and other likely hiding places have been visited. All Darwin police have been alerted to watch for the men and senior officers have been issued with special warrants under the Immigration Act, which empowers them to enter and search any place they suspect may be used as a hideout.

An appeal by Zainal’s father for him to return home has been broadcast In a telephone message on Saturday, Zainal told a reporter through an intermediary that he did not want to go home. He said he had not heard from his father for many years.
