BOYS’ BRIGADE DISPLAY
Big Attendance At Cowles Stadium
The W. J. Cowles Memorial Stadium which was opened last week, was used for its first sports function on Saturday when the Canterbury Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade held a disnlay evening. Altogether 250 boys took part in 13 items. Companies from Christchurch. Rangiora and fCaiapoi performed before a large crowd.
Two items comprising several team games proved most interesting. Others apolauded were a humorous displav of bull-fighting by the 21st Christchurch Company and ladder pyramids by the Ist Christchurch Company.
At the end of the display the inspecting officer (Sir James Hay) complimented the boya on their efforts. Devotions and hymns during the evening were conducted by the Rev. G. D. Falloon.
