FOREST AND BIRD SOCIETY
Field Day Held By Branch Two hundred and seventyfive members of the Canterbury branch of the Forest and Bird Protection Society had a field day in the MotunauStonyhurst district on Saturday. The headquarters for th? day was on the property of Mr H. L. Pickering, whose farm manager, Mr J. Gunn, welcomed the visitors. During the afternoon most of the party, led by Mr W. J. Harris, a member of the branch, walked along the rim of a bush-filled gorge to the sea coast, many different native trees were identified and bell-birds, fantails, grey warblers and wood pigeons were seen. Several children in the party included 21 from Kaiapoi Borough School.
