GARDEN CLUB AT FENDALTON
70 At 21st Birthday Party The Fendalton Garden Club recently celebrated its twenty-first birthday with a luncheon party in the Gold Room. About 70 attended. Guests were received by the president (Mrs W. L. Partridge) and included many original club members and representatives of kindred clubs.
Specially-invited guests included the president of the Christchurch Horticultural Society (Mr J. Watling) and Mrs Watling, Mr and Mrs J. C. Fraser, and Mesdames J. R. Templin and P. C. Browne. Bowls of camellias, pink carnations, and pink and blue hyacinths stood on the tables and in big bowls.
The pastel theme was featured in the birthday cake, iced in pink, and featuring tiny pink rosebuds and blue hyacinths. It had been made and teed by Mrs Partridge. Vocal items were given by Mrs D. Lawson, and Mrs L. D. Tait and Miss D. Skellerup gave a sketch. Mrs G. W. Skellerup was the accompanist.
