10-MINUTE PARADE
Hats, Bridal Veils Shown
More than 28 hats were shown during a 10-minute parade in Armagh street last week. In a window draped with red velvet, several models showed hats for all ages—from young debutante hats to designs for the mother and grandmother, A hat of japcnica pink rough straw with the crown smothered in paler pink organza flowers was one of the prettiest seen. There was also a natural straw planter hat banded with grosgrain ribbon and trimmed with gold and bronze-toned flowers.
A little toque made entirely of pale pink lilac blossoms featured a pointed fringe effect of rose petals round the hairline. On top of the crown dark green flower stems stood straight up from a base of green leaves. For the older woman there was a softly folded felt hat in shades of wild rice and whisky. The darker brim curved up above the brow and the crown was trimmed with velvet leaves in the darker shade. jf Blonde silk chrysanthemums encircled the bouffant crown of a hat made from blonde straw veiling. Another hat was made entirely of tiny pale blue net frills trimmed with sprigs of lily of the valley. Straw veiling was also used to make a pillbox hat which the model wore tilted to the back of her head. The hat was trimmed with small bows of white satin.
The climax of the parade was the showing of several wedding head-dresses and veils. There was a copy of the coronet Princess Margaret wore, on her wedding day teamed with a fingertip veil and very fine embroidery trimmed with a bouffant shoulder-length veil which was .held in place by a honeycomb design of pearls and diamante. This veil had been built out to extra fullness at the back with inching and layers of tulle under the top embroidered piece.
