Giving an example of the potential of the orchid as an overseas exchange earner, he said that last year one Australian grower had exported 159,000 spikes of five to 18 flowers apiece. Mr Blackmore said he saw other orchids of this variety selling in Covent Garden market, London, at 2s 6d a flower. They were all Australian grown.
