WORLD LABOUR CONFERENCE

“No Decisions To Affect N.Z.”

No decisions made at the recent International Labour Conference would affect labour organisations in New Zealand, said Mr F. L Langley.- secretary of the Canterbury branch of the Carpenters’ Union, yesterday. Mr Langley, who returned from Geneva on Saturday, said the conference confirmed its resolution of the early 1930 s on the right to organise, and this was a proposal which the New Zealand Government had not yet ratified Mr Langley said he was a member of a housing committee which sat during the conference. One of the committee’s major decisions was that all countries should make it a matter of national policy to promote adequate housing for workers and their families. This applied particularly to the newlv developing countries and the welfare of the world's 500 million unhoused or. poorly housed people.
