N.Z. Teams In Australian Pony Club Trials

(N.Z.P.A.-R»ut MELBOURNE. Sept. 3. New Zealand teams were eighth and eleventh in the Kangaroo Cup competition conducted over the last two days at the Pony Club international horse trials at Mornington, south of Melbourne. The New Zealand blue team was eighth, with 241 penalty points, and the red team eleventh, with 246.5 points. The cup was won by the New South Wales blue team, with 195.5 points. South Australian red and Tasmania filled second and third places. The best individual performances of the seven New Zealanders competing was by Charles Matthews, of Gisborne. who finished the three sections of the cup with only 72 points against him. He was followed by David Kirk, of Hawke's Bay, with 75. Peter McGiven, of Waitemata. 81. and Margaret Grenside, of Hastings, 91.
